Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris was born on the 20th of October, 1964. She is an American politician. She is also the first female vice president and highest-ranking female official of U.S. History, as being the first African American and second Asian American vice president. As a member the Democratic Party, she was the attorney general for California between 2011 and 2017 and was she was a United States senator representing California from 2017 to 2021. Harris was born and raised in Oakland, California. Her career began in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office. Harris was later recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office. In 2003, she was appointed district attorney for San Francisco. In 2010, she was elected Attorney General of California and was re-elected in 2014. Harris was the United States junior senator from California from 2017 until 2021. Harris beat Loretta Martinez in the 2016 Senate election to become the 2nd African American woman and first South Asian American senator to be elected to the United States Senate. As a senator , she supported health reform, federal descholaring for cannabis, a pathway for immigrants who are not legal citizens as well as the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She was praised nationally for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials in Senate hearings, which included Trump's second Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and was accused of assault on a woman.
